Abstract: Supporting People and Domestic Violence: information for Local Authorities and Providers. Briefing note 4

WOMEN’S REFUGES - CHILDREN’ SUPPORT SERVICES

This briefing describes the range of children’s support services that may be provided in refuges. It provides examples of housing-related children’s services which may be eligible for THB. However, the provision and planning of children’s services are the responsibility of Health and social services, and the briefing advises Lead officers and refuge providers to encourage these agencies to give priority to the funding of children’s services in Refuges.

The briefing includes the information on childcare services circulated in the Supporting People Lead Officers’ bulletin on 6th May 2002

Note that decisions about eligibility of any support charge for funding through THB, and the level of charge that can be met, are made by the Housing Benefit Officer

The briefing will be updated if necessary, once the details of the Supporting People Grant regulations have been finalised.
